Our lives as Christians are all about the relationship we share with our Savior, Jesus Christ, but this relationship is based on His Word. At the very base of this relationship, of Christianity as a whole, stands the Holy Bible; the inspired and inerrant Word of our one True God. This book is not just full of stories and rules, but it is a guide book. It is our manual for how to live this life. It is the Truth.
The text within the pages of this Holy Book cover any and every topic we could ever imagine; if you've struggled with it, its in there. Now to simply say that the Bible is a guide book does not do it justice. This book is literally the Word of God, one of the ways we can communicate with our Heavenly Father. It is the truth, the rock, and foundation of Christianity, and I cannot stress enough the importance of becoming familiar with it.
Verse:
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
~ 2 Timothy 3:16-17
God uses His Word to teach, to heal, to lead, to comfort, and to exemplify what the Christian life is all about. We are not the first to live this life, and we will not be the last, but the amazing part is that we have a resource to look to in our times of trouble, in times of praise, and when we simply want to hear what He is trying to tell us. We need to delve into this Book, into these truths, and commit to a life of learning, leading, and serving our Savior. In order to do this, we have to be well-versed, we have to be prepared, and we can only do that with the Holy Bible. I understand that there are other ways to worship, to communicate, but so often this most essential bit of the Christian life gets swept to the side.
We claim we don't have time, or that we can get the same truths out of Christian music, or our pastors' sermons. Don't get me wrong, those are all ways of getting closer to God, bringing Him praise, and honoring Him with your life, but it is so crucial to be in His Word in order to understand His will. So often we write off what God is trying to tell us by saying we just don't understand, when in actuality, we just haven't done the work. We need to soak it in, memorize it, and lead the life it calls us to lead. It is when we commit to reading, learning, and loving The Truth, that we can truly be set free.
All great words, though I would suggest that the Bible is not a book, but a library
ReplyDeleteThat is 100% true. It is a library of several books, but contained within one very accessible location. Thanks Nate!
ReplyDeleteExcellent. The Word was. The Word is. The Word will be. This was a great blog entry.
