Blessed to be a Blessing

Blessed to be a blessing...Have you ever thought of how blessed we truly are?

Think about that for a minute... We have been blessed; blessed to live in a place where we can celebrate Christmas, blessed to be amongst the most fortunate and wealthy people on this planet, blessed to be able to practice our faith and spread the good news.  We often forget these truths, and cannot see past our own problems, but God who is faithful and just has blessed us with these things that we might go out and bless others.  He has blessed us so we may be a blessing.  We have the opportunity to share the good news with others, but we often don't view it that way; we may see it as a list of chores or an obligation of being a Christian, but Paul, in Ephesians, refers to it as an honor and privilege to tell others of the great treasures that can be found in Christ.  We do not deserve these blessings, but they have been given to us; so let us go out and use them to bless those who have not heard of Jesus, who lack a hope, a faith, a purpose. Let us give those in need a real reason to be joyful and to truly celebrate Christmas.

There are followers of Christ all over the world who must practice their faith secretly and are martyred for their beliefs, yet they do it with arms high and hearts abandoned for the One who gave it all.  Paul himself suffered greatly for his beliefs, but never did that stop him from spreading the News of Jesus Christ for he felt privileged that God has bless him in order to do so.  I pray that we, who live in a place that allows us to believe and practice as we choose, may have this mindset that being able to do the work of Jesus Christ and spread the Good News is an honor and a privilege; may we recognize that we are blessed to be a blessing.  Scripture says that Heaven will be a representation of every nation and every tongue, but that cannot happen until those who have the Good News are willing to share it; until those who are blessed give to those in need of blessing.

Daily Verse:

Though I am the least deserving of all God's people, He graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ. ~ Ephesians 3:8

In church this morning, we were presented with this challenge and so I pass it along to you.  I challenge you, this Christmas, to give to those with Christmas needs, not just those with Christmas lists.  Show them that Jesus lives in you and it is an honor to spread His Good News.

Peace and love
