Where do you find your hope, what gives you your strength to carry on?
Last night as I lay in bed, the song Hope Now by Addison Road came on my iPod. I have heard this song several times, but never once has God spoken to me through it the way He did last night. The song starts out like this:
If everything comes down to love
Then just what am I afraid of
When I call out Your name
Something inside awakes in my soul
How quickly I forget I'm Yours
I'm not my own
I've been carried by You
All my life
Everything rides on hope now
Everything rides on faith somehow
When the world has broken me down
Your love sets me free
So often I forget that I am not on my own, that God was, is, and forever will be right by my side. There is no such thing as a hopeless situation with Christ in my life because everything does ride on hope now. He has given us a reason to hope, a reason to live, a reason to believe, a reason to love, and the means by which to do all of these things.
He gave of Himself, of His own flesh and blood, so that we might have a future; a future filled with the hope and love of our Savior. The Lord declares these plans for our future in Jeremiah; He has had these plans for each of us since the beginning. We all struggle, stumble, fall, and even doubt on some of our darkest days, but with Him, we can have hope. We can be hopeful that He is faithful and true, and has never once failed us. It is easy to forget these truths when the world beats us down, but just when you think you cannot take anymore, His love will set you free.
Daily Verse:
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Be hopeful, rejoice that we not only have something (God's plans for a future for us), but that we have SOMEONE to give us hope. This world is giving us a run for our money, but I promise that He is there, and that is more than enough reason to hope now.
