Healing Your Spirit

Healing Your Spirit

Walking the path of life that God has marked out individually for each of us, serving our Father who gave it all for us, spreading the Gospel to the lost for His name's sake, and living the life of redemption and freedom through Christ brings so much joy.  However, it may not seem like this everyday; somedays you might want to just give up, this life is hard, you are under too much stress, sharing your faith is too much work, your friends don't understand you or your beliefs, the peer pressure has become too much, other festivities seem so much more appealing.  These alternatives, these excuses are the work and deceit of one who wants to steal, kill, and destroy us.  However, Jesus Christ came in order to restore our souls, instill in us a new hope, to heal our spirits, and teach us to overcome those days where it all seems like too much.

My friends, accepting this life with Christ was never guaranteed to be easy.  We will walk through days of darkness, we will feel like turning back, but God gave us His Son so that we could be healed; He has given us a new life in Him, one in which we can recognize what Satan is trying to do and overcome it.  Living a life that is pleasing to the Father brings more joy than one can even imagine, so why is it that these earthly lies that Satan throws at us seem so appealing?  The answer is simple, our flesh is weak and God knows that; we aren't the best with delayed gratification.  We want to feel good and we want to feel good now, but that is our former selves talking; that is Satan trying to get us to turn back from this loving God who can give so so much more and return to the sin that we used to enslaved to.

Praise God that He offers to heal our spirits! The rewards waiting for us in Heaven will be far greater than any earthly treasure we could ever imagine.  We have been made new in Christ, and freed from the entrapment of our old sinful nature.  God has restored us, healed us, and prepared for us a new life with Him; a life full of mercy, grace, and forgiveness.  He has given us the crown of life, new life with Him in our hearts and by our side.

Daily Verse:

“He Himself bore our sins” in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by His wounds you have been healed.” ~ 1 Peter 2:24

Today I challenge you to live as one that has been healed.  Recognize when Satan is trying to deceive you, and flee from it; flee straight into the arms of the Savior that died to give you new life.  Remember that your flesh is weak, but He is stronger.  He came to save, He came to heal; let Him be at work in you.
