Grace Like Snow
Some may be discouraged by this snowstorm, by this winter weather in general, but I see in it a great analogy for what God can and will do in our lives if we allow Him. I look outside today and I see beauty, a pure beauty in the cleanliness of a freshly fallen snow. I also watched as this snow was falling all day on Saturday and am reminded of the power behind something as beautiful as fresh snow. From inside I watch as this snow coats the ground with this pure snow, but I step outside and feel the ferocity behind the wind that is bringing it, and yet in both, I see God. I see His might and power in the wind that can so quickly bring on this great storm, and I am reminded of His compassionate grace for us in the snow those winds leave behind.
Daily, His grace is sufficient for us; in fact it is more than enough. That is hard to fathom when I look at all the things I do wrong, but I feel in my heart that there is truth in the fact that His grace is enough. I see that snow, and some may think an inch or two would have sufficed, but I think it is a strong reminder of how the Great Provider lavishes us with His grace. Like the snow outside, God has covered us with grace, more grace than we could ever imagine; just like the wind, He throws it in every which direction in order for it to cover us completely. We need His grace, just as the ground will use that snow to flourish in the Spring.
You see, just as the snow is a promise of nourishment to the Earth, so also is His grace a promise of nourishment to our lives. We not only need His grace for ourselves, but we must be willing to pass it on to other people. It says in Isaiah that just as the snow will water the earth before it returns, His word from will not return to Him empty. We are the ones fortunate enough to have His word, to be able to share it; God has intended this and has a purpose He is looking to achieve through it. We must be willing to lavish others with God's grace and the truth of His word in order for it to return to Him having accomplished its purpose
Daily Verse:
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. ~ Isaiah 55:10-12
Look at the beauty around you; do not be discouraged by what hindrances it may bring, but look deeper into the meaning and promise behind it. God's grace, like snow, is a promise of life to come. Live that life, enjoy it, and be willing to spread that grace which has been given to us.
